Trim

A decorative item such as ribbon lace or rick rack that is added onto a background panel. It is used as both a noun and a verb, as in, “She chose ribbon as her trim to trim the edge of the skirt’s hem.” Can also mean to cut away excess fabric with scissors or a rotary cutter. When dealing with window covering, it can also refer to the decorative wood boards framing a window.
